Does that also make me an author?

Hey guys!

So I've just uploaded a few chapters off a new story I've been working on to my Wattpad page.

My little cousin Aisha has been bugging me to do this for months but I've always been a little shy letting other people read my stories.

I mean, they're my stories! Written by me for my eyes only! Publishing them online is making me a little self conscious. *sigh*

I have contributed articles to magazines a few times in the past but this is the first time I'm actually letting the public in on my books.

They usually end up on my laptop for my eyes only until I get tired of them, hehe.

Anyways, my latest work is called "Who is Anisa Haque" and here comes the blurb...

Anisa is young woman in her 20s with an insatiable love for cheesy popcorn, George Clooney and solving mysteries. When her best friend Maryam gets engaged to be married, Anisa finds her perfect world falling apart. Before she can fix it, she has to help a dysfunctional family survive through an earth shattering crisis. But how can she cover up their dirty secrets without hers coming to light?

It's intended to be a light easy read Chick lit book in an Abuja setting.

I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think about it in the comments below. Don't forget to share it to your friends too!

Lotsa 'literary' love,

Ummi.

Kofta Stuffed flat bread || Kitchen Quickie

So here's a quick brunch recipe idea I came up with on a hungry Sunday morning. We woke up starving and needed something quick and easy but also filling.

This recipe reminds me of the Sfiha, a Lebanese flatbread I used to buy on Fridays at the Perth central mosque.

But unlike the Sfiha, this recipe uses ready made Lebanese bread and leftover frozen kofta, making it faster and easier but very identical in taste.

For the filling, I used some left over kofta mince (raw) which i stir fried over medium heat and added some chopped celery, extra parsley, chilli paste, and teensy bit of tomato paste, giving it a sauce like consistency.

I took 4 pita bread out of the freezer and defrosted them on a hot pan then scooped spoonfuls on one side of the bread and flipped it over it with the kofta filling

The meal was served with some olives and garnished with parsley leaves.

I Stacked up the folded breads and cut them in half. Ended up with 8 quarters, more than enough for 2 - 3 people.

That's it! Breakfast was served in about 15 minutes!

If you don't have kofta mince, you can substitute with frozen meat balls (which you'll smash as you stir fry) or even use raw beef/lamb/chicken mince which you'll have to season to bring out the flavour. If you're using raw mince I recommend seasoning with black pepper, salt, coriander, oregano or parsley and lime juice.

Enjoy!
